In my family, birthdays are a big thing and they are always marked with great celebrations! So this classy black and white affair was in honor of my fabulous mom!

Sadly, the celebration took place out of town in Palm Desert, so my family was not able to swing the plane ride. But I sure had a blast assisting the birthday girl with the table decor.

She knew she wanted a black and white soiree, so it was with no hesitation she was sold on using the 4″  black & white cube blumeboxes for the centerpieces. She looked to Palm Springs Florist for the flowers and they did a great job grouping four cubes to form one large low cut arrangement, allowing guests to talk over the centerpiece with ease.

And a party is not a party without cake, so we added a sweet touch at each place setting with a cake pop, that came from Monica at The Sweet Source. Now, we were not present to judge the tastings, but the reviews came in and its fare to say that these cake pops were “the bomb”! For those of you unaware, there are heaps of cake pop companies out there, so selecting one was no easy chore. But my decision was sealed after reading the reviews on The Sweet Source’s Etsy Shop. The designs were stunning, the taste was remarkable (from what we heard) and the service was top notch!

My mom added the damask name cards to each cake pop stick showing guests to their seat. What a clever and tasty seating solution…you go mom!

For all those brides to be, with save the dates to be wed this Winter, here is some holiday inspiration from Stem’s Floral Design Studio. The vibrant red carnations paired up with white blumeboxes and black & white damask ribbon rang out Winter Weddings to us! Of course, this popular red, white and black color combination could be just as fabulous year round!

Another fabulous compliment to such a vibrant bouquet as these, would be our brand new black with white edge collection, arriving the end of October!

We have an unhealthy obsession with Pinterest and have been known to scour the site for endless party and decor ideas that could applied to blumeboxes. Of course along the way we have built boards for our dream house, but that is another post. Upon one of our searches, we came across Chalkboard Table Centerpieces that got us thinking that blumeboxes are the perfect medium to apply chalkboard paint! What an easy DIY and cost effective way to personalize centerpieces.

Just about any craft, paint or hardware store sells chalkboard paint, we happened to get our hands on a quart of Benjamin Moore and it worked great! Determine the size and shape you are desiring, create a stencil and stencil the shape directly on the box. Note: Pen works best to outline the shape!  And don’t fret about seeing the pen lines, as the paint will cover any guides. Then carefully and steadily apply the chalk paint to the outline shape. Two coats will due. Let dry and apply chalk!

Featured here is our 5.5″ white cube that we applied chalk paint to our trellis shape outline, and then proceeded to chalk out table numbers. A variety of succulents filled the blumeboxes, which added depth to the table design. What fabulous way to turn centerpieces into table numbers that would make for terrific gifts for guests at the end of the event.

The ideas are endless with this super easy DIY project especially when you discover that there is colored chalk paint! What an adorable idea for treat boxes at a birthday party, or personalized centerpieces for a baby or bridal shower!
